Week 4 DS106 Design - Got Deer?

Monday morning I went to the backyard to water my vegetable garden and I found all the cucumber leaves were gone from the cucumber plants. Only bare stems and some flowers were left on the trellis. A couple of green tomatoes were scattered on the ground. There were some bite marks on the tomatoes. There were big deep footprints in the soil. Everything told me that we had an unexpected visit from deer.

It looks miserable, doesn't it? I felt sense of irony. This is my first year of planting vegetables and I have thought many reasons for my experiment to fail such as lacking planting experience, bad garden soil, or bugs eating up the vegetables. I have not imagined that a beautiful animal like a deer would a problem.

Building a fence is an expensive option which I don't want to consider. Deer repellent might be an economic option except it rains almost every night and may wash the chemicals away. At this point I am not sure how effective the repellent would be after the rain.

Here inspired by this week's design task I decided to create a T-shirt to warn deer to stay away from my garden! I will keep everyone posted about the cucumbers, but I'm not sure it would fruit normally or stress too much from losing all the leaves.

*No deer will be harmed in the creation or promotion of this idea. This idea was meant for entertainment purposes only. Love nature and give back!*
